A small Finn farmstead with roots from the 1600s
Kabberud is a small Finn farmstead from the late 1600s in Hurdal. There has been activity here in one form or another for all that time. Today the farm combines tradition and sustainability; the animals graze freely in forest and open land and yield meat with rich flavour and high quality.
The farm raises free-range outdoor pigs, Highland cattle and honey, and is part of the Hurdalsmat cooperative, where the idea is simple: food made in Hurdal should also be eaten in Hurdal.
Honest products from a living cultural landscape
The forests and open land of Hurdal provide unique grazing resources. The pigs live outdoors and are fed Norwegian-produced feed without soya, antibiotics or anabolic steroids. The Highland cattle breed is robust and thrives outdoors year-round, giving meat with unique flavour and fine marbling. The bees gather nectar from Hurdal's rich flower meadows.
